Carreau band

The first time I visited a concert of the band Carreau was some month ago at the Stage 035 festival. The first thing I noticed was their enormous energy on stage. It was wild !
I directly could see that music is totally their thing and they feel at home on stage. It was theirs and stayed theirs till the end. What a performance. I really enjoyed it. The singer runs then to the piano and back to the guitar again and plays it all very well. The other musicians are high level too.

After the show I gave them my compliments and asked if they had a lot of performances every year. Well it seemed that they were doing a lot of gigs in the North of the Netherlands and in the middle (our area). They play at student parties in the big cities, cultural festivals and whatever comes by. And their wish is to start playing their self created music and go everywhere to make big shows.

Carreau was founded in 2023 by a group of musical friends in the drummer’s attic room after meeting each other at work, late nights or in the music industry.

The band consists of 4 members: Gio Wijnschenk (piano and vocals), Luka Krijnen (lead guitar), Boaz Ottink (drums) and Klaas van Dam (bass guitar).

The band is originally a cover band for mainly old-fashioned Rock ‘N Roll, think of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry or Jerry Lee Lewis. The band has not yet written their own music, but plans to do so in the future.

As soon as the boys enter the stage, they have only one goal: To turn things upside down! That is what Carreau is all about. With high energy on stage, fantastic sing-alongs or perhaps even the most old-fashioned boring songs in a new guise. The more energy there is in the audience. The more Carreau comes into its own
